FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday, November 19, 2019
JUST ANNOUNCED:
In support of his upcoming solo album, Nathaniel Rateliff returns to his acoustic routs with the ‘And It’s Still Alright’ tour at the State Theatre on March 4 with special guest Courtney Marie Andrews. Rateliff’s live show spans from a stripped back, solo voice/acoustic guitar performance, to a full backing band. Nathaniel Rateliff and his band have appeared on nearly every late-night television program and toured extensively worldwide, playing major festivals and selling out iconic venues (including Surly Festival Brewing Field this past summer).
Archy Marshall has quietly and stealthily crafted a reputation for himself as one of the most raw and startling voices of a new generation. With signature King Krule wit, today’s release of short film Hey World! shows Marshall performing four as-yet-unreleased tracks—the London singer/songwriter/producer’s first new music since 2017. The film comes alongside a tour announcement for King Krule, including a stop at First Avenue on April 14.
The New York Times describes Soccer Mommy’s debut, Clean, best—“a ferocious howl of an album.” The aforementioned release and her accompanying performance at SXSW 2018 propelled Sophie Allison into lo-fi indie-rock sainthood, a pedestal on which she’s remained while fans eagerly await a new record. In the meantime, we will gladly accept a Soccer Mommy live performance at First Avenue on Sunday, April 19 with Emily Reo.
FEATURED SHOW:
From barefoot troubadour to suave, contemporary R&B vocalist—Eric Benét may have changed his look, but one thing has remained constant: his dedication to crafting authentic music that engages the soul. “I’m not chasing any current whatevers,” says Benét, a four-time Grammy Award nominee. “It’s about music that gives me goosebumps and touches my soul. That’s always been a good barometer for me.” Catch Eric Benét at The Fitzgerald Theater on Friday, November 29.
