FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday, July 9, 2019
JUST ANNOUNCED:
Pacific Northwest sister-trio Joseph announce their new album, Good Luck, Kid, and accompanying tour with a stop at First Avenue on Friday, September 20. Following a rough year on the road filled with in-band fighting and a near break-up, singer-guitarist Natalie Closner Schepman says the idea behind the album is one of “moving into the driver’s seat of your own life—recognizing that you’re the adult now, and everything’s up to you from this moment on… You’re not completely sure of how to get where you need to go, and you don’t have any kind of a map to help you. It’s just the universe looking down on you like, ‘Good luck, kid.’”
Celebrating over 21 years and over 2,800 shows, Dark Star Orchestra continues the Grateful Dead concert experience with a stop in the Mainroom on September 30. Their shows are built off the Dead's extensive catalog but offer much more than just the music—they truly encapsulate the energy and experience. It's a sense of familiarity. It's the feeling that grabs listeners and takes over— that contagious energy...in short, it's the complete experience and consistent quality show the fan receives by attending a Dark Star Orchestra show.
50% Comedian. 50% Magician. 100% Dragon. After earning national acclaim as the standout star of NBC’s America's Got Talent and Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Piff The Magic Dragon continues to win over audiences across the globe with his mythical mixture of wizardry, wit, and sarcasm that ignites a one-of-a-kind comedy magic show you must see to believe! Joined by his trusty sidekick Mr Piffles, The World’s Only Magic Performing Chihuahua™, the duo brings The Lucky Dragon Tour 2019 to The Fitzgerald Theater on Friday, November 15.
FEATURED SHOWS:
In the time that’s elapsed since her debut EP Habit, Lindsey Jordan (a.k.a. Snail Mail) has graduated high school, toured the country, opened for the likes of Girlpool and Waxahatchee, and participated in a round-table discussion for the New York Times about women in punk. She headlines First Avenue on July 15—here’s hoping she’ll play “Lush” in Simlish (yes, it’s a thing).
