FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday, December 3, 2019
JUST ANNOUNCED:
A regular in the K-pop scene, Eric Nam became a household name in South Korea after participating in Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star 2. Now, the Atlanta-born singer-songwriter aims to win over American hearts with his first wholly English album, Before We Begin. Nam’s accompanying tour stops at the Palace Theatre on Saturday, February 29 with FRENSHIP.
After a spectacular three-show run at the Palace Theatre in November, Wilco return to Minnesota on March 10 at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Symphony Hall. Over the past two decades, Wilco has released ten studio albums, won multiple Grammy Awards, founded their own record label (dBpm Records), and even have their own music festival, Solid Sound. The Chicago sextet is regarded as a live music powerhouse. “To see Wilco on stage is to hear the best of the best (NPR).”
A prolific writer, producer, and performer, M. Ward is one of modern American music’s most unique and versatile voices. While he’s perhaps best known for his own remarkable output (his eleventh studio album, Migration Stories, is due out April 3), Ward is equally celebrated for his adventurous collaborations with artists like Conor Oberst, Mavis Staples, Jim James, and of course Zooey Deschanel (She & Him). M. Ward plays the Mainroom on Sunday, May 3.
FEATURED SHOW:
At the time in his career when a lot of musicians burn out, Mason Jennings instead has new energy and drive with his recent release Songs From When We Met. "I’m just happy to have found true love and to be healing from a dark time. I was struggling to find hope and it found me,” he says. “Music just burst out of me this year. It’s always been a lifeline, but this is the most open I’ve felt." Saturday, December 7 is your chance to catch two Minnesota favorites in one night—Mason Jennings performs at the Fitzgerald Theater with local troubadour Frankie Lee.
