FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday, August 13, 2019
JUST ANNOUNCED:
Crushing, the second full-length album from Australian singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin, embodies every possible meaning of its title. It’s an album formed from sheer intensity of feeling, an in-the-moment narrative of heartbreak and infatuation. Catch “emotional warrior” (Paste Magazine) Julia Jacklin at the Cedar Cultural Center on Saturday, November 16.
The world’s most unstable talk show host, Eric Andre, announces his Legalize Everything Tour, including two shows at the Pantages Theater on Friday, November 22. Rattling the minds of TV censors, celebrity guests, and viewers alike, The Eric Andre Show is best known for its over-the-top humor and putting its guests into unpredictable situations. The live show is no exception.
Known for his warm baritone vocals, Gregory Porter rose to acclaim in the 2010s with his earthy, cross-pollinated brand of jazz, soul, and gospel. A gifted singer of standards as well as more contemporary soul material, Porter has earned favorable comparisons to his idols Nat King Cole, Donny Hathaway, and Stevie Wonder. Gregory Porter performs at the Fitzgerald Theater on March 29, 2020.
FEATURED SHOWS:
So far, the shows this summer at Surly Brewing Festival Field have been nothing short of extraordinary. Get ready for another knockout performance his weekend featuring the "sublime, spooky...radical dreampop” (UNCUT) of Shakey Graves and “unmistakably sublime harmonies” (Under the Radar) of Dr. Dog. Shakey Graves & Dr. Dog perform on Saturday, August 17 with special guest Caroline Rose.
