First Avenue Upcoming Artists
FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE:
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN, 2 CHAINZ, ANGEL OLSEN, THE MOUNTAIN GOATS, AND MORE
Tuesday, June 6, 2017
Formed in Liverpool in 1978, Echo & The Bunnymen developed a cult following in the 80s with their gloomy, psychedelic-tinged alt rock. The band's original lineup has undergone a few changes, but that hasn’t stopped founder Ian McCulloch from writing and producing new music. The legendary post-punk rockers return to First Avenue later this summer on August 9.
“Veteran Atlanta rap goofball 2 Chainz has been on a pretty great run in recent months,”says Consequence of Sound, “and he’s finally unveiled all the details of Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, his eagerly awaited new album. The LP is set to arrive in a couple of weeks, and it’s a star-studded affair, featuring contributions from people like Migos, Pharrell, Nicki Minaj, and Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. A few of its tracks have already been out there for a while, including “Good Drank” (with Gucci Mane and Quavo), “It’s A Vibe” (with Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz, and Jhené Aiko), and “Big Amount” (a Drake collab that appeared on last year’s Daniel Son; Necklace Don mixtape). Now 2 Chainz has also shared another track: “4 AM,” a characteristically goony trap banger with a hook from Travis Scott.” Catch the Pretty Girls Like Trap Music Tour 2017 at the Palace Theatre on August 25.
We know summer’s just getting started, but we’re already looking ahead to a jam-packed calendar of shows in the fall. Just this week we’ve announced concerts with Oh Wonder, Angel Olsen, Gogol Bordello, Alvvays, The Mountain Goats, and many more. Check out our full calendar for more information.
This Week’s Featured Event:
Nearly twenty years after forming, Grammy-winning Americana masters Old Crow Medicine Show are finally getting the recognition they deserve. "Wagon Wheel," co-written by Bob Dylan and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor, has become one of the most popular country songs in the nation, and the group's popularity has skyrocketed accordingly. Now, they're attempting something even more ambitious: a full-album performance of Dylan's iconic Blonde On Blonde. Don't miss Old Crow Medicine Show's performance of Blonde On Blonde at the Palace on June 10!
Please see the attached show listings release for all newly announced shows and updates.
