Free Family Fun Day: Story Walking: The Girl Who Wore Snakes by Angela Johnson
Sunday, November 24, from 1-3 p.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Minneapolis. Come join us and enjoy the wonderful story of a girl and her new-found fascination with snakes! This program is free and open to all ages.
Turkey Tracks
Sunday, November 24, from 1-2 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton. Stop in and learn about wild turkeys and their behavior. Listen to turkey calls, examine artifacts, and study our turkey mount. Hike and search for these large birds and their tracks along the way. This program is free and open to all ages.
Free Family Fun Day: Turkey Times Two
Friday, November 29, from 1-3 p.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Minneapolis. We all love turkey at Thanksgiving, but nows your chance to learn about this amazing bird, its habits and habitat. This program is free and open to all ages.
Feeding Frenzy
Saturday, November 30, from 1-3 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton. Fun on the food chain gang! Look on as the salamander snacks, turtles taste, and frogs feed. Dangle worms while they are devoured! Watch the snacking snakes. Different animals will be fed throughout the afternoon. Bring a camera! This program is free and open to all ages.
IN THE WEST METRO
Rockets: The Science of Flight
Sunday, November 24, from 1-3 p.m., at Lowry Nature Center, in Carver Park Reserve, Victoria. Blast off into an afternoon of fun as we make our own rockets and launch them skyward! Well take ordinary two-liter pop bottles and transform them into water-fueled rockets that will reach heights of more than 100 feet. Learn through experimentation about the science of flight, aerodynamics and adaptations for flight in nature. Each participant should bring their own two-liter pop bottle. Cost is $5 and this program is open for all ages.
IN THE SOUTH METRO
Free Family Fun Days: Turkeys
Sunday, November 24, from 3-4 p.m., at Richardson Nature Center, in Hyland Lake Park Reserve, Bloomington. Shhh! Dont scare them away. Wild turkeys often visit our wildlife viewing area; maybe youll see one. Youll also learn about the habits and habitat of these clucking, gobbling birds. This program is free and open to all ages.
Terrific Turkeys
Saturday, November 30, from 1-2:30 p.m., at Richardson Nature Center, in Hyland Lake Park Reserve, Bloomington. Learn about these fun, strutting birds. Go on a hike in search of wild turkeys and make a craft to take home. Cost is $5 and this program is for ages 3+.
