MINNEAPOLISChristmas in the City, the seasonal celebration featuring the music of Minneapolis native and international recording artist John Trones, returns to Hennepin Theatre Trusts Pantages Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013. Jen Burleigh Bentz, of Broadways Mamma Mia!, returns along with Grammy nominated piano sensation Jim Brickman, who keeps the tradition alive with his special guest appearance. Born and raised in Minneapolis, John Trones hails from a musically gifted family including his sister, Mary Beth Carlson, inspirational pianist and national recording artist. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Trones wrote, produced and starred in a series of successful musical comedy cabaret shows at the Bryant Lake Bowl in the late 1990s including 3 Way, Boy, Oh Boy and Zombies from the Beyond. In 1999, he released his debut album, Forward, a collection of Broadway and contemporary love songs including One Fine Day and It Had to Be You. In August 1999, he toured the U.S. with Olivia Newton-John and Jim Brickman and was the creative producer of Brickmans PBS special, My Romance, in 2000.
Trones has also been active in the Twin Cities theatre scene as an actor, producer and writer, with shows including the regional premiere of The Twilight of the Golds in 2001, which Lavender Magazine named one of the ten best theatre productions of 2001, naming John one of the seasons outstanding performers. He also performed in the popular The 1940s Radio Hour at Hennepin Stages in 2007 and 2008 and is set to release his sixth CD, Christmas in the City, this fall. A frequent musical guest onstage with Jim Brickman, Trones routinely tours nationally and internationally with Jim Brickman and the two will be performing throughout China in October 2013. Trones is an original cast member of the national tour of Yesterday Once MoreA Tribute to the Music made famous by The Carpenters that debuted in 2011 with the St. Louis Symphony, and he continues to tour the United States playing alongside some of the finest symphonies in the country such as the Minnesota Orchestra, Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Dallas Symphony.

Christmas In The City with John Trones and special guests Jim Brickman and Jen Burleigh Bentz is set for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at Hennepin Theatre Trusts Pantages Theatre (710 Hennepin Avenue, Mpls., 55403). Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 19 and range from $46.50 to $36.50 depending on seating preference. A limited number of gold circle tickets will be available for $79.
