Previews for the show run May 7-15, with opening night on Saturday, May 16. The show runs through August 1. All performances are at the Brave New Workshop Theatre main stage at 824 Hennepin Avenue, Downtown Minneapolis. In "Mad Vax: Beyond Measledome," the cast will tackle some tough questions about modern society, while retaining the trademark hilarity and creativity of every Brave New Workshop show. Questions like: Where does personal freedom begin and end? Why do we look to celebrities instead of scientists for information? Could you take a look at this rash on our leg? These sketches and songs will skewer these issues and more in this satire of epidemic proportions.
"Mad Vax: Beyond Measledome" will feature BNW cast members Bobby Gardner, Heather Meyer, Ryan Nelson, Tom Reed, and Taj Ruler. Meyer and Nelson have been understudies and writers for several BNW shows, but "Mad Vax" marks their debut as regular cast members. The show is directed by Caleb McEwen. Peter Guertin returns as music director, and Matthew Vichlach will provide technical direction.
The cast began the writing and rehearsal process in early April. Show images and additional show information will be available in the coming weeks.
