The production also features a live performance of BLM's viral Internet hit A Modest Proposal created with Science Magazine writer John Bohannon for the 2011 TEDx Brussels conference in Belgium. The program is completed by Flink's poignant A Duet from Wreck performed by Flink and BLM Artistic Associate Emilie Plauchè Flink, For She a wrenching solo by Flink performed by Laura Selle Virtucio and BLM's signature work This Bleeding Heart . . . About Black Label Movement
BLM blasted onto the Minnesota dance scene in 2005 with its unique brand of daring physicality and thoughtful dance making. The Star Tribune describes BLM founder Carl Flink's artistic approach as follows, "His inventive choreography derive[s] from physical risk and kinetic surprise, [and] emanates a deep soulful humanity." The St. Paul Pioneer Press writes, "Watching Carl Flinks dynamic Black Label Movement dancers forge their way through his magnum force pieces, you cant help wonder why dance has not been designated as an Olympic sport. But then again, what sport could match the blend of gymnastic control and nonstop momentum of Flinks choreography? Or its beautifully sculpted movement? Or its emotional wallop?"
