Another Place to Party: Event Space Managed by Chowgirls Tops Off Solar Arts Building in Northeast
Minneapolis, Minn. - Chowgirls Killer Catering will manage the newest Minneapolis-Saint Paul event spot: Solar Arts by Chowgirls, a spacious light-filled brick and timber space with an industrial heritage on the third floor of the landmark Solar Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis.
The existing 6500 square foot space will be remodeled with newly built bathrooms, a glass-enclosed meeting room, a catering prep kitchen, and a bar. Architectural details, including industrial doors, wooden beams and floors, and the many windows will be preserved and supplemented by statement decorative elements, including an 8-foot long carved wooden bar once owned by singer Johnny Cash.
Chowgirls is accepting event reservations now and will be the exclusive catering and bar provider for the venue, which will open for weddings, meetings, and other corporate events in early 2015. Upon completion of construction, the venues capacity will be over 300 for seated events and even more for standing cocktail functions.
The century old Solar Arts Building started out as a life preserver factory. More recently it was refurbished by owners Duane Arens and Larry Brandt to be environmentally sustainable with a 92% efficient heating, air conditioning and ventilation system, along with over one hundred solar panels providing 27 kilowatts of green electricity. The first floor houses the award-winning Indeed Brewing, while its second story is home to multiple artist studios.
Were thrilled to join the party at Solar Arts Building and to partner with Duane and Larry, says Chowgirls co-owner Amy Brown. We share similar values in terms of care for the planet and were all big supporters of the Northeast neighborhood and the arts.
Our clients are looking for unique places to hold celebrations and were looking forward to producing many memorable events in this one-of-a-kind space, says Chowgirls co-owner Heidi Andermack.
