MINNEAPOLIS – Internationally acclaimed Gordon Lightfoot heads back to the State Theatre for AN EVENING WITH GORDON LIGHTFOOT at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16. Considered by many as Canada’s greatest songwriter, Lightfoot will be performing from his vast catalog that spans five decades.

Lightfoot has written immortal songs, such as “Early Morning Rain,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Carefree Highway,” “Sundown,” “(That's What You Get) For Lovin Me,” and the classic ballad, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”
During his historic 50-year musical career, Lightfoot has recorded 20 albums earning five Grammy nominations. His songs have been in radio rotation regularly for the past 50 years, earning him radio singles chart positions in North America achieved by few others with five Number Ones, five Top Tens and 13 Top 40 hits. In Canada he has earned 16 Number Ones, 18 Top Tens and 21 Top 40 hits.
In June 2012, Lightfoot was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, honored for his role in defining the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s joining Burt Bacharach, Bob Dylan, Carole King, Paul Simon, Billy Joel and Elton John. Lightfoot’s songs have been recorded and performed by some of the greatest of all time, including Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Eric Clapton, Johnny Mathis, Olivia Newton-John, Barbra Streisand and many others.
Lightfoot continues to perform extensively throughout the United States and Canada, performing 75 to 80 concerts a year. He has been decorated with the highest honors bestowed to a Canadian civilian including the Governor's General Award and the Companion to the Order of Canada honor of merit. He has also won 17 Juno Awards, Canada's equivalent to the Grammy Awards. Lightfoot is a member of Canada's Walk of Fame and The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2007, Canada Post honored him by issuing an official Gordon Lightfoot postage stamp. Lightfoot is also in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame.
