MINNEAPOLIS— American Swedish Institute (ASI) announced today that Ingrid Nyholm-Lange has been appointed ASI's Director of Experience, responsible for administering, directing and overseeing all museum functions including collections, exhibitions, programs and visitor services. Nyholm-Lange has worked at ASI held since 2007, holding various positions of increased responsibility, including her current role as Associate Director for Programs and Community Engagement.

Nyholm-Lange has more than 25 years of experience in the museum field. Her path to ASI has included collections and archives work at the Chicago Historical Society, curatorial and education positions at the Swedish American Museum Center in Chicago, and leadership positions in education/programs at the Minnesota Children's Museum. She began at ASI working as a teacher and curriculum developer in the Svenska Skolan youth program. In 2008, she was named Youth and Family Programs Coordinator and assumed the Associate Director for Programs and Community Engagement position in 2016. She holds a Master’s degree in Historical Administration with additional studies in early childhood education and public history. She also studied history for a year at Uppsala University in Sweden.

As the incoming Director of Experience, Nyholm-Lange brings solid expertise in collections management, exhibit development and interpretation, community engagement, administration and personnel supervision, as well as an extensive background working with artists and arts organizations, and developing public and educational programs. In addition, she brings an in-depth understanding of Swedish and Swedish American culture and traditions, and a fluency in the Swedish language. Nyholm-Lange leads the ASI’s neighborhood engagement programming including the work with recent immigrant populations, bringing a respect for diversity and an understanding that ASI’s work is enriched by the power of equity and inclusion. She is active in the local museum cultural community and has developed many strong partnerships here and in Sweden.
