9th Annual Minnesota SAGE Awards for Dance
Nominees Announced for 2013 Awards Gala
Minneapolis, MN (September 11, 2013) The Cowles Center for Dance and Performing Arts announced today the nominees for the 9th Annual Minnesota SAGE Awards for Dance, which will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 7:30 pm in The Goodale Theater. Tickets are $19 and are available for this award gala and reception by calling the Cowles Center box office at 612.206.3600, going to www.thecowlescenter.org or in person between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Tuesday Friday.
The SAGE Awards is a much anticipated annual celebration which provides audiences with an intimate look into the nationallyrecognized Minnesota dance community. The SAGE Awards showcases performances by awardees from past years while honoring dance excellence from the previous season. This year Karen Sherman will emcee the evening with performances by past awardees Emily Johnson, Katie Johnson and Shapiro & Smith Dance. Greg Waletski will provide the music. Following the ceremony, join the nominees and performers in the U.S. Bank Atrium for a reception.
The evening promises compelling performances, heartfelt and surprising acceptance speeches and revelatory moments of awkwardness.
Each year, a new award is commissioned from a local artist to honor the dancers and their achievements. Minnesota visual artist, Karl Unnasch, created the 2013 awards.
