20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Location: Childrens Theatre Company
Mission Dates: July 7 August 23, 2015
CENTRAL COMMAND, MINNEAPOLIS This is an urgent message from Central Command. You have been enlisted as an officer in an elite international naval force code-named ORKA. Report to Central Command TODAY for official tickets for this mission.
This mission is unlike any other undertaken at Childrens Theatre Company, states ORKA Commander Peter C. Brosius. The future of our planet depends on the success of this mission. Officers [aka audience members] are taken through the action; moving, ducking, and racing through the building on the search for Captain Nemo, as if in a live videogame. The experience entails life or death decisions, surprises, excitement, and adventure. Report for duty now. Our future is at stake!
Mission Director Ryan Underbakke explains, ORKA was formed to apprehend the international terrorist known as Captain Nemo in the top secret mission 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Our intelligence shows that there is a mutiny taking place now on her sea vessel so we must pursue during this lull in the destruction of our ships. Should we fail, we may never get another chance. Only through your skill and expertise will we successfully bring her to justice.
Officers report to the launch site in Childrens Theatre Companys Target Lobby in groups of 25. There are multiple launches per performance date and takes 45 minutes. You will be led through narrow hallways, passageways, and around corners of the CTC building as you search for Captain Nemo. There are no seats, no stages, and no audience. You are the crew. This mission is physically demanding and officers need to be at least four years old and able to take direction from their Superior Officers. Tuesday launches will run at a slower pace.
Your Mission Director Ryan Underbakkes previous missions include the Ivey Award-winning The 7 Shot Symphony (conceived, directed, co-wrote), The Beast (created with ensemble, Bedlam Theatre) and the interactive The Happy Show (director). He is supported by an impeccable team of experts. Commander Jorge Cousineau is the Environment and Video Designer for this mission, creating high-tech simulations to aid in your pursuit of the enemy. Agent Ann Cady is the Costume Designer, ensuring the highest level of security and technological convenience of the uniforms during this mission. Officer Craig Gottschalk is the Lighting Designer with cutting edge devices to illuminate any path. Agent Sean Healey is the Sound Designer and Officer Annie Enneking is the Fight Choreographer. This team was assembled from the very best in the field and together create an unbeatable combination.
