Planning for the 2019 NCAA Final Four in Minneapolis heads into high gear
Earlier this month the 2019 NCAA Final Four Minneapolis Organizing Committee officially launched in Downtown Minneapolis. The specially designed office space at U.S. Bank Plaza will be the hub of all planning during the 28-month period leading up to the 2019 tournament. The 2,200 square-foot space was made possible largely due to generous donations from local vendors and businesses. Kate Mortenson, MLOC President and CEO, says that the office buildout “really demonstrates our excitement to have one of the biggest events in sports back in Minneapolis.” Already bringing businesses and locals together, the MLOC views the Final Four as an opportunity to promote and support a lasting legacy focused on youth and inclusion in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region. In this Golden Gopher Daily Update, JoAn Scott, NCAA Managing Director of Men’s Basketball Championships spoke with Mike Grimm about the overall benefits of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the University of Minnesota’s role in the Final Four.
