Ujamaa Place is a Safe Space providing holistic, culturally responsive transformation for young African-American men experiencing inequity at the intersection of race/ethnicity and poverty. Ujamaa Place opened its doors in 2010 with the mission of helping participants achieve brotherhood, stability, and personal success. Through the Ujamaa Place experience and its evidence-based Theory of TransformationTM, staff and partners strive to help participants achieve numerous ultimate outcomes. Those include stable housing, increased educational attainment, career acquisition and retention, family connection, eliminating contact with the Criminal Justice System system and Addressing Emotional and Social Traumas Through the Ujamaa Place experience, participants are empowered to be change agents in their communities.
