City of Lakes Loppet Ski Festival
A celebration of winter in Minneapolis! Taking place from Jan. 30-31 & Feb. 6-7, 2021.
What is it?
A cross-country ski festival for the whole family! The Loppet features ski races for all ages, skill-levels, and abilities. You’ll find skijoring races, a kubb tournament, a snow sculpture competition, sprint races, ice biking, and more. This is Minneapolis' biggest celebration of winter sports, lights, and artists.
Where is it?
The festival is located at The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park. Check out this map here.
All races (except the Ski-O) will offer both a hybrid (semi-virtual) and a fully virtual option in addition to the usual timed and scheduled event. Everyone will be able to participate in whichever way works best for their own health and safety concerns. Registration is the same regardless of which version of the race you choose. Both versions offer full “credit” for completing the race!
The Junior Loppet and Minne-Loppet will be combined into one event, called the Next Generation Loppet, meant to inspire the next generation of skiers. Youth and junior skiers will be able to choose from 3K, 2K, and 1K distances.
Events canceled this year include Captain Ken’s Kubb Tournament, the Crew Ski Loppet, the Chuck & Don’s Skijor Sprints, the Freewheel Fat Tire Sprints, the Skate Ski Sprints, and the MYSL SuperCarnival.
