The equity and community impact department at Meet Minneapolis works to ensure our city's tourism and hospitality industry is welcoming, inclusive and representative of all who live, work and visit here. We collaborate with diverse communities, lead equity-focused initiatives and develop programs that promote access, cultural connection and systemic change within the local tourism and hospitality industry.
Warm Winter Clothing Drive
Now in its third year, the annual Warm Winter Clothing Drive provides brand-new winter coats, boots and cold-weather essentials to Hennepin Healthcare for patients in need. From November to December, Meet Minneapolis joins forces with its tourism and hospitality partners to donate thousands of dollars’ worth of clothing, helping to ensure our community stays warm and cared for during the wintertime.
Twin Cities Pride Festival
Having a presence at Twin Cities Pride allows Meet Minneapolis to connect directly with thousands of LGBTQ+ visitors and allies, helping to showcase our city as a welcoming and inclusive destination. With more than 400,000 people attending Pride events each year, it's one of the country’s largest celebrations and a vital opportunity to support and engage with the community. Staff volunteers at our booth demonstrate our commitment to equity, hospitality and authentic representation.
Friends & Co.
Our corporate social responsibility project to pack care packages for Minneapolis seniors reflects our commitment to supporting all members of our community, especially those who are often overlooked. By addressing basic needs and spreading kindness, we help ensure our city is not only a great place to visit, but also a caring place to live. These efforts strengthen community bonds and reinforce the hospitality values at the heart of our tourism work.
