Walker Art Center & Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
The Walker Art Center is one of the nation’s most visited modern and contemporary art museums—and for good reason. With a dynamic lineup of exhibitions, there’s always something new to discover. Beyond the galleries, the Walker hosts classes and workshops, thought-provoking lectures, live performances, and film screenings that make every visit feel fresh. Admission is free every Thursday from 5–9 p.m. and on the first Saturday of each month, making it even easier to experience it all.
Just steps from the museum, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden invites you to roam 11 acres of outdoor art. Home to more than 60 large-scale works—including the beloved Spoonbridge and Cherry—this expansive green space blends creativity with nature and is open year-round, free of charge. It’s the perfect place to wrap up your visit (or kick it off) with an inspiring stroll.
If you’re looking to really make an even bigger event out of your trip to the Walker, check out Cardamom, the new restaurant on the main level adjacent to the entrance is a partnership between Minneapolis Chefs/restaurateurs Daniel del Prado and Shawn McKenzie. A large, glass wall, modern décor and an outstanding menu influenced by the cuisine of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, make this casual restaurant a foodie’s dream and much more than a “museum restaurant”—this spot is a destination in itself!
