Wolves Players Trade Sneakers for Chef Hats at 'Cooking for a Cause' Event in Support of Children wi
Minneapolis/St. Paul The Minnesota Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation's WolvesCare initiative, presented by C.H. Robinson Worldwide, continues on Saturday, Jan. 28, when the team hosts its "Cooking for a Cause" event. With the goal of learning to prepare diabetic-friendly meals and promoting healthy eating, Timberwolves players Derrick Williams, Darko Milicic, Nikola Pekovic and Malcolm Lee will welcome 50 children diagnosed with diabetes to the WAY-COOL Cooking School in Eden Prairie from 3:00-5:00 p.m. for a lesson in diabetic-friendly cooking. The event is made possible through a partnership with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
Upon arrival at the event, the children will create their own personalized chef hats before being divided into teams led by the Wolves players. Each team will learn to cook a different course of a diabetic-friendly meal, with the whole group joining together afterwards to enjoy the meal.
The WAY-COOL Cooking School is a family oriented cooking school focusing on teaching kids and adults how to cook and have fun in the kitchen. More information can be found on their website at www.WayCoolCookingSchool.com or by calling 952-949-6799.
WolvesCare Month focuses on some of the team's smallest fans, but those with the biggest hearts: children suffering from terminal or long-term illnesses. Throughout the month of January at each Timberwolves game and at numerous events across the community, the FastBreak Foundation's WolvesCare initiative has worked to make a difference in these courageous children's lives.
