"We are excited to have the opportunity to celebrate this new park" said Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership Interim Executive Director Kathleen Boe.
Sheridan Memorial Park is a result of the combined efforts of a group of WWII veterans and the Sheridan Neighborhood Association. In 2005, they joined forces to pursue the creation of a memorial in this unique Above the Falls location. The park was dedicated on June 28, 2014. The Memorial honors all Minnesota veterans and recognizes the ten conflicts that Minnesota veterans have served in.
"I am thrilled that we are once again bringing this fun event to the parks along the Mississippi River above the falls said Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board President Liz Wielinski. "This year's site is especially exciting as we have recently completed the 20+ years in the making Sheridan Veteran's Memorial and if you stay till dusk you'll be able to see it lighted from within along the skyline."
