Minneapolis Convention Center Welcomes New Sales Manager Sue Murray
(April 19, 2011) Minneapolis The 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry that Sue Murray has accumulated will serve her well as she takes on her new position as sales manager with the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC).
Murray most recently worked as the vice president of the Port Hotel Restaurant and Inn in Port Washington, Wisc., for the last 13 years. Prior to that, Murray worked in various sales positions with Minneapolis-based hotel establishments. This market knowledge, combined with the accumulation of experience in all aspects of hotel and convention sales, will make Murray an excellent addition to the staff.
I am thrilled to not only be back in Minneapolis after 15 years away, but the icing on the cake is to be associated with an organization such as Meet Minneapolis that I have long since admired as one of the best in the industry, Murray said. I look forward to working hard to be a positive, proactive part of this wonderful team. As the new sales manager, Murray will be responsible for corporate market sales, focusing on revenue and room night goals.
I hired Sue for her experience in the hospitality market, her positive can-do attitude and strong personality, said Katie Smith, director of Sales and Marketing at the MCC. Since she joined the team, we have attended industry events and it is as if she never left the city.
Murrays position replaces the position vacated by Smith when she was promoted in late 2010. Both are employed by Meet Minneapolis, which manages all sales and marketing for the Minneapolis Convention Center.
