Lightwire Theater Brings A Very Electric Christmas To The Cowles Center
Minneapolis, MN, November 2014 The Cowles Center for Dance & the Performing Arts is excited to be hosting Lightwire Theaters A Very Electric Christmas December 17 and 18. Lightwire Theater gained mass appeal as semi-finalists of Americas Got Talent in 2012 and currently they are contestants on TRUTVs new reality show Fake Off.
Described as absolutely incredible by Rolling Stone Magazine, A Very Electric Christmas centers around a young bird named Max and his family as they begin their journey south for the winter. As he dreams of celebrating his first Christmas, Max looses his way during a snowstorm and ends up at the North Pole. As he tries to make his way home, his adventure begins. Dancing toy soldiers, caroling worms, and performing poinsettias light up the stage as mischievous rats try to ruin Maxs plans to reunite with his family.
Audiences of all ages will treasure this magical and captivating tale of family, friendship and hope set to timeless holiday hits, including Nat King Cole, Mariah Carey and Tchaikovsky. Lightwire Theater is internationally recognized for their electroluminescent artistry, poignant story telling and performs in complete darkness. Brighten your holidays this season with Lightwire Theaters A Very Electric Christmas.
Performances are Wednesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 18 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $33.50 and $43.50 (fees included) and are available at www.thecowlescenter.org, by calling 612.206.3600, on Facebook at facebook.com/thecowlescenter. You can also download our app Wallentini to purchase tickets from your smart phone or tablet.
More About Lightwire Theater
Creators Ian Carney and Corbin Popp met while dancing on Broadway. An immediate connection was made as they discovered their mutual love of art, theater and technology. After coming across a product called EL wire, the lights turned on. EL wire is short for electroluminescent wire: Unlike black lights, the technology can be powered by batteries and requires no theatrical lighting.
Lightwire Theater builds everything themselves using electroluminescent wire (aka el wire), recycled materials and common household items typically found at Home Depot, Sports Authority and Wal-Mart that include: Election signs, Skate Board Wheels, Dryer Ducting, Plumbing Supplies, PVC Pipes, Fishing Poles, Duct Tape, Zip Ties, Back Packs and of course batteries!
In addition to appearing on Americas Got Talent (season 7) as semi-finalists, Lightwire has also appeared on My TF1s The Best: Le Meilleur Artiste as finalists. They continue to travel the world, including performances in Abu Dhabi, Russia, Hong Kong, Estonia, China, Belarus and Paris.
