The story of the Lumber Exchange Event Center all started with a simple idea. Host larger more elegant events and do it in a way that would change the way Minneapolis looked at event space. The owner saw the need for this space after years of developing The Pourhouse
restaurant as the place to watch televised sports events, eat great food and dance the nights away on the weekends. However, its prohibition-influenced design and large space showed strong potential for events and celebrations of all kinds. As The Pourhouse flourished into a successful event venue, we discovered the third-floor space in the Lumber Exchange Building that was an ideal larger event and wedding venue. The Lumber Exchange Event Center is the culmination of that vision.
To cater to upscale, swanky socialites of Minneapolis, we opened The Exchange & Alibi Lounge. This modern, sophisticated space attracted happy hour goers and night time clubbers and provided us with additional space to host events like wedding receptions, cocktail hours and corporate parties.

The Fountain Room is a stunning, nine-story atrium filled with natural light and rustic grandeur. At the entrance of the space, a soaring fountain trickles down an exposed brick wall. Repositioned vintage lamp posts, glittery chandeliers & sconces create a warm ambience. The Fountain Room alone can host seated meals for 50 to 300 guests.

The Fountain and River Room can seat up to 450 guests for a meal or larger guest counts for a cocktail style event.

The River Room is adjacent to the Fountain Room and showcases the original windows of the building. Book exclusively or as an extension of the Fountain Room.

Occupancy: 0 - 350
The design of Sawyers on 5th radiates rustic elegance with exposed brick columns. Its west-facing windows create a picturesque view of the sun setting on downtown Minneapolis. This space features an original bankers safe and stunning original stone windowsill. Sawyers on 5th alone can accommodate up to 250 guests for a seated meal or up to 350 guests for a cocktail reception.
