STEM Family Day
History and science come together in a day of family activities focusing on the role of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) for the past and present. Guest organizations and museum staff will present a variety of STEM-related programs, highlighting the ways STEM affected the Minneapolis riverfront and still affects us today.
Families can learn about wheat from field to table with the General Mills Grain and Flour Quality Lab; meet Minnesota Raptors with the Raptor Center; invent a boat with the National Park Service; see MN snakes with the Minnesota Herpetological Society; see how “Geology Rocks” with the Minnesota Geological Society; learn about water quality monitoring with the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization; learn how science and history are intertwined from MNHS staff from the Oliver Kelley Farm; work together at interactive tables mechanical power and hydroelectricity tables; see a flour dust explosion and more!
