The Village- A Health and Wellness Expo and Athlete Experience

July 3rd to 13th

The Village will be free and open to both athletes and the public from July 3-13 in the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Village is the hub of activity for The Games, offering special presentations, demonstrations, interactive displays and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a variety of experts, special guests, vendors and more. Each day offers something unique for the community to help celebrate The National Senior Games.

The Beach Boys Outdoor Concert

July 4th to 4th

 The Beach Boys’ first hit single was “Surfin’” in 1961 and over the next five decades they would release hit after hit including “Good Vibrations,” “California Girls,” “I Get Around,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Fun, Fun, Fun” and “Kokomo.” The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and honored at the 2001 Grammy Awards, receiving The Lifetime Achievement Award. Concert goers who hold General Admission tickets for $32 are invited to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to the event. Coolers, picnic baskets, umbrellas and outside food and beverages will not be allowed, but a variety of food and drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets for $49, $59 and $69 are seated. As an extra bonus, these seats are complimentary folding camping chairs that concertgoers get to keep—a souvenir of summer fun with The Beach Boys at Mystic Lake during America’s biggest celebration.   


Rock and the Rockets

It’s a star-spangled day of music, food fun and fireworks! Celebrate America’s birthday at Mystic Lake’s fun-filled Rock and Rockets free festival featuring popular local food trucks, an arcade game tent, giveaways and more! This is an all-ages event. Bring the whole family! Enjoy live music by Viva Knievel and Maiden Dixie, PLUS a paid concert on the lawn by The Beach Boys.

Flame Arrival Ceremony- National Senior Games

July 4th to 4th

You are cordially invited to join the festivities, Saturday, July 4 as the torch arrives in Minneapolis to signal the start of the 2015 National Senior Games presented by Humana.  This symbolic torch and flame, having visited many communities as it traveled throughout the State of Minnesota, will make its way to the annual “Red, White and Boom” community fireworks display.  We welcome all to join us on the banks of the Mississippi River across from downtown Minneapolis at this FREE, festive, family-friendly event. Live music will be playing at Mill Ruins Park and Father Hennepin Park. Join us as the cauldron is lit and fireworks follow at 10:00 p.m.  It will be a spectacular Minnesota-style celebration to welcome and kick-off the 2015 Games!

Concerts in the Park- Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project

Free Concert in the Park for Kids and Families. Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project works to  utilize Jazz music, its derivatives, history, art, media and technology as a means topromote learning, communication and self-expression. To provide free concerts and a safe and diverse forum for civic engagement and cultural enlightenment for all ages and nationalities.

Fresh Ink Series 2015

This summer’s Fresh Ink series features a satirical one-person play, a true-life story based on an unlikely friendship and a boundary-stretching physical theater piece. Continuing Illusion Theater’s 40th Anniversary Season, the annual showcase is on stage for three weekends in July – July 9-11, July 16-19 and July 23-26 – with each weekend offering a new work-in-progress at Illusion’s 8th floor theater in the Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts.

Creative City Market

Creative City Market is a free monthly experience in the heart of our downtown that celebrates the act of making. Each month the public is invited to the Plaza at the Convention Center to participate in an evening under the setting sun surrounded by MN made food, beer, art, wares, and performance:

  • A beer garden featuring selections from the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild from the Craft Bar and Lounge at the Minneapolis Convention Center
  • An outdoor grill station with food for purchase
  • The onsite creation of art installations through public-artist collaborations

National Senior Games- Celebration of Athletes

July 10th to 10th

Join us as we celebrate athletes from all over the country who have come to Minnesota to participate in their chosen sports.  A special recognition of their achievements and accomplishments will be held at the new Saint Paul Saints Ballpark – CHS Field on Friday, July 10, in downtown Saint Paul. The festive Celebration of Athletes welcomes back the Parade of Athletes. By popular demand, the Parade of Athletes (all athletes will walk with their state) will return as a major program element.
