Minneapolis, Sept. 9, 2015 –MovementWise, The Cowles Center’s invigorating, 10-week community-oriented dance class, continues with its fall session. Designed for adults 55+, MovementWise exposes participants to a wide range of dance forms— from social dance and modern, to percussive dance and ballet.
Developed by The Cowles Center’s Director of Education, Jessi Fett, the program is taught by an array of Cowles Center Teaching Artists whose areas of expertise span multiple disciplines. Along with single classes, MovementWise participants may also purchase a series subscription which provides all ten classes at a discounted rate and offers members discounted tickets to select performances during the Cowles Center’s performance season as well as discounts at Mason’s Restaurant and Barre.
MovementWise’s unique combination of movement-based class, social engagement, and exposure to the arts cultivates an environment in which like-minded adults come together to explore creativity, socialize, dance, and engage their minds. Previous program participants have said, “this class is like movement therapy for my body, mind, and spirit” and the “very friendly and personable instructors” helped create an environment which participants found “very safe and encouraging”.
MovementWise classes occur Wednesdays, September 16 – November 18, from 6:30 – 8:00pm at The Cowles Center in the Target Education Studio. Individual classes are available for $10/class and the series membership is available for $75.
MovementWise is sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota and endorsed by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Allied Health Programs.
