Kinder Konzerts Premiere, October 13, 2017
The kick-off event will mark the first of twelve dates of Kinder Konzerts at Orchestra Hall this season. This unique music education program for preschool and kindergarten-aged children is one of the few programs in the country that commissions orchestral music specifically for this age group. Over 5,000 children from more than 100 schools in the region have already registered to attend during the 2017-18 season. This year’s featured commission is original music by local composer Janika Vandervelde that will be performed to the narration of Max Found Two Sticks written by Brian Pinkney.
While Kinder Konzerts debuts to over 400 children on October 13th, there will be a special performance of this commission for the public at 11:40 am at Orchestra Hall, followed by a luncheon with remarks from the composer and local teachers who will share the impact Kinder Konzerts has had on their students.
