Creating a Mississippi Minute: 4th MISSISSIPPI MINUTE FILM FESTIVAL- ENTRIES OPEN

Minneapolis, Minn—
July 12, 2017
The Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership announces the call for entries for the Mississippi Minute Film Festival is now open. The competition, now in its fourth year, encourages Twin Cities’ residents of all ages to create a visual essay that showcases their connection to and appreciation of the river. Participants can use a video camera, GoPro, or smart-phone to craft a one-minute creative piece that engages viewers and celebrates the important connections between the community that surrounds the river and the river itself.
“We’ve had a fantastic variety of entries in previous years. This year we’re hoping for topics that highlight connection and reflection,” says Kathleen Boe, Executive Director for the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership. "Themes of sustainability, play, history or poetry could all be ways to showcase this incredible natural gem we have running right through our city.” The festival was launched with the purpose of creating champions of the Mississippi River by promoting opportunities for both physical and emotional connections to the river for residents of Minneapolis.
Entries are accepted through 5 p.m. on September 15th. Contestants are asked to choose a specific section of the river to focus on for the competition, selecting one of four categories defined by location on the Mississippi River for the contest. In addition to Best of Show and Viewers Choice awards, first place and runner-up awards will be given in each location category. Winners will be announced and awarded films will premiere at the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership’s annual event, the Minneapolis Riverfront Summit, on Monday, October 23, at Mill City Museum at 6 p.m. More info below.
