Jill Mott, curator of the bubbles list: Jill has been working in the wine profession for almost 20 years and has traveled to two dozen+ countries exploring an in-depth essential understanding of the globe's vineyards, wineries, cideries and breweries. With each passing season, she realizes she couldn't imagine herself in another profession as the world of wine has allowed her to experience the likes of retail, importing/distribution, assistant winemaking, cellaring about, teaching, consulting, training, working the time old profession of a sommelier and brokering on an international level. Currently, Jill calls Minneapolis home base where she has 42 irons in the fire at all times, including consulting and training at some of the area's finest restaurants and wine shops.

Chef Jessica Cak: Chef Jessica has been the chef of Barbette for 6 months, and we’re ready to shout it to the rooftops! Jessica’s culinary roots are in central Wisconsin, where she first helped out in the kitchen at her parents’ from-scratch restaurant. After attending culinary school in Minneapolis, Jessica began her career at Corner Table and later made her mark at various Michelin Star and James Beard-awarded restaurants throughout the country, from Napa Valley to New York City to Austin, Texas. Years of travel made her realize that her heart belonged in the Midwest, prompting Jessica and her husband to settle in Minneapolis in 2016.
Fresh off a stint at Café Alma, Jessica is delighted to be at Barbette, which has held a place in Jessica’s heart since she first discovered it years ago. She’s thrilled to return both to Minneapolis and to her favorite cooking style, French cuisine, with a clean and seasonal approach. Jessica loves the fact that Barbette, like all Bartmann restaurants, has an established track record of using sustainably-sourced ingredients from local farmers and purveyors, a focus on low-waste practices, and a commitment investing in its employees—many of whom have been loyal staff members for years. She looks forward to using the skills she’s gained along the way to tinker with beloved Barbette menu items and focus on simple, subtle flavors in its cozy neighborhood setting. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys working in her “yarden,” playing with her three rambunctious dogs, and adventuring out in a kayak. Oh, and she loves Tom Hanks.
Kim Bartmann: Celebrating 27 years in this location. “I’ve been working on this space in between projects for a couple years now, and I’m so very excited about what our team has put together for you in this intimate room bursting with bubbles and Jennifer Davis’s first-ever mural.”
WHEN: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights open at 5pm. Available for private events, tastings, pop-ups, and classes the rest of the time.
