Winter Events

Snow and cold doesn't slow us down. There are still plenty of winter activities and events keeping us busy in Minneapolis.

With events like the U.S. Pond Hockey Championships, City of Lakes Loppet, great shows at the Minneapolis Convention Center and numerous outdoor activities, it’s no secret as to why we’ve ascended into “Winter Wonderland” status. Check out these cool (pun absolutely intended) events going on during the winter in Minneapolis. 

Northeast Winter Market

CatVideoFest 2020

CatVideoFest is a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and, of course, classic internet powerhouses. CatVideoFest is a joyous communal experience, only available in theaters, and raises money for cats in need through partnerships with local cat charities, animal welfare organizations, and shelters to best serve cats in the area.

Feline Rescue, Inc. will receive 10% of all ticket proceeds.

Twin Cities Auto Show

March 7th-15th, 2020
Minneapolis Convention Center

The Twin Cities Auto Show is your chance to compare more than 575 vehicles from 37 foreign and domestic brands side by side - without driving all over town. You will see new models in every category, from compacts and family sedans to the latest in SUVs and luxury cars. You'll hear about financing options. You will learn about on-board navigation and communication technology and see the growing variety of electric and hybrid vehicles. And of course - instead of just dreaming about it - the Auto Show is where you can actually sit behind the wheel of one of those sleek, shiny new sports cars!

Rock the Cradle 2020

The Current’s annual free, no-ticket-required Rock the Cradle event for kids and their grownups to explore music, art and culture returns to the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Enjoy annual favorites such as the Kids’ Disco Dance Party with Twinkle the mascot, Pop Up Story Time with The Current’s DJs, live music from The Jolly Pops, and more. Find sponsor activities spread throughout the museum, including singalongs and stories in the Amazing Kid Zone from Children’s Minnesota, an art activity for Mia’s Family Day, Classical Kids Storytime and lots more. The Fastenal Parallel 45 Winter Festival

March 14th-17th, 2020
Theodore Wirth Regional Park

The Fastenal Parallel 45 Winter Festival will combine the 2020 World Cup Sprint Finals with four days of live music, craft beer gardens, and spectator events, including fat-tire bike races, skijoring races (pairing skiers with their furry friends), SkiCross and BikeCross races, presentations from past Olympians, and both citizen and children’s ski racing and touring events. This unique festival will showcase the best of winter in a way only possible in Minnesota.
