That's the longest distance any Minneapolis resident has to walk to get to one of our 170 parks. Don’t believe us? Try it out. When you find one, take in the scene and take part in the action. It's common to see pick-up soccer games break out, Frisbees whizzing around, bikers and joggers flowing by and people simply relaxing. And, with live music events like Music in the Parks, six blocks is definitely worth the walking distance.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is one of five Minnesota park agencies and one of approximately 130 agencies in the United States that is accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). The MPRB is a diverse system of land and water spanning 6,790 acres of parkland and water featuring 251 park properties including the 55-mile Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway, 200+ miles of biking and walking paths, 22 lakes, 12 formal gardens, seven golf courses and 47 recreation centers. Together these properties annually receive approximately 21 million visits.
