Sounds of Freedom
The “Sounds of Freedom” concert is a musician-led initiative aimed at raising awareness of Ukraine's significant contributions to the classical music repertoire and the ongoing struggle to preserve Ukrainian music, history, and art amid an unjust war.
Experience a captivating musical evening that highlights the rich culture of Ukraine, featuring the works of two of its most celebrated composers. Under the baton of Nickolai Podvin, the musicians of Minneapolis will perform alongside guest concertmaster Yulia Sozanska and esteemed soloist Matt Haimovitz.
In the lobby of Orchestra Hall, guests can enjoy the Bandura Duo, a brother and sister duo who perform Ukrainian folksongs and teach about the national instrument: Bandura. They can also enjoy a pre concert beverage and walk around the Green Card Voices Exhibit: Voice of Ukraine that tells the stories of Ukrainian community members who have moved recently from Ukraine and reside in Minnesota. Guests can also enjoy a performance from Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. All of this will take place before the concert doors open.
