Phantom Chorus Theatre’s Annual Night of Puppet Karaoke
SAINT PAUL, MN’s experimental puppetry and physical theatre company Phantom Chorus Theatre is gearing up for a 3rd season of brand new, original theatre productions with their 2nd ever annual fundraiser, October 11th, 2024 at the Carleton Artist Lofts from 6-9 pm. PCT’s company members invite their friends, supporters, and all fans of art, singing, and puppetry to join them. Celebrate past and future artistic work with their invention: “puppet scare-aoke”.
At this year’s festivities, guests can sign up for the “Horror D’Oeuvre” food contest to try and win the 1st or 2nd place prize. But the main event? “Puppet Scare-aoke”. Co-artistic director Thalia Kostman describes this experience, “Much like your normal night of karaoke, people can show off their performance skills with a song of their choice. Unlike your normal karaoke, we will be puppeteering along to your beautiful melodies!” Last year’s event saw the magical combination of a raccoon puppet singing Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.” This year’s winning combo? We leave that up to you! Festivities will also include a craft table, a silent auction (available both in person and online) and tarot card readings by Divergent Soul Tarot.
Phantom Chorus Theatre was founded by a dozen local collaborative artists in January 2022. They’ve created 6 original productions, and this fundraiser will support their 3rd season of original work: The Alchemist’s Bargain- an all-blacklight production of puppetry, performing late October 2024, and Dealing With Dragons- an original adaptation of the fantasy novel, in collaboration with Arts Nest, performing in January 2025 at the Phoenix Theater.
