"As the downtown skyline looms over your shoulder, you feel as you've returned from the country, though you've never left
the city."
– Midwest Living

Summer in Minneapolis |
When people think of Minneapolis, they usually think of lakes. Which we have – in abundance (22 within the city limits
to be exact). But Minneapolis also boasts well over 100 parks, miles of bike trails, world-class golf courses, beautiful
public gardens (including the oldest public wildflower garden in the country), nature preserves, open-air sports and much more.
A land of golfers ...
Arizona has nothing on us. Minnesota boasts more golfers per capita than
any state in the union. There are 5 golf courses within the Minneapolis
city
limits alone, and more than 170 in the metro area. So swing away!
... and anglers ...
We are also home to some of the best urban fishing in the country – you can even toss a line into Lake Calhoun for some
of the best Muskie, Bass and Walleye fishing.
... and sports enthusiasts!
Runner's World Magazine has named Minneapolis the Second-Best Urban Area in the country for running, citing beautiful
trails and clean air. And Midwest Living has named the Grand Rounds (made up of 7 byways for hiking, biking and
walking) 1 of the 3 Best Scenic Byways in the nation, with more than 50 miles of paved trails.
