The Sports Pavilion has established itself as one of the premier multi-purpose facilities in the nation. It currently serves as the home of the Golden Gopher men's and women's gymnastics team, the volleyball team and the wrestling team. The Pavilion has been the home of Golden Gopher volleyball since in 1994 with it quickly becoming one of the top collegiate volleyball venues in the country. In the past four seasons, the Gophers have ranked fourth nationally in home match attendance among NCAA Division I schools. Minnesota has ranked among the nation's top five in attendance in each of the past 6 seasons, and have ranked among the top 10 in each of the last 11 seasons. In 2004, the Minnesota volleyball program had its locker room and team facillities refurbished, to upgrade what was already a first rate set of facilities.
The Sports Pavilion also provides a first-class home for Golden Gopher men's and women's gymnastics. The facility offers superior sitelines and because of that, has been the host site of several big events, including several Big Ten Championships.
Not to be outdone, the Sports Pavilion also provides a haven for one of the top wrestling programs in the nation. While the Golden Gophers also host matches in adjacent Williams Arena, Minnesota drew one of the largest crowds in school history in the inaugural year of the Sports Pavilion. In 1993-94, 5,205 fans watched Minnesota upset top-ranked Oklahoma State.
