Minneapolis to host soccer gathering

What: Meet Minneapolis, the Official Convention and Visitor Association, recently announced that the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has officially selected Minneapolis for its 2015 Annual Convention. The convention is expected to draw as many as 7,000 attendees bringing an estimated economic impact of $8.2 million to Minneapolis and the surrounding metro area. Meet Minneapolis predicts a 2,400 room-peak and approximately 8,000-room occupancy rate.

When: January 13–18, 2015

Where: The convention will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The headquarters hotel, though not confirmed, will most likely be the Hilton Minneapolis.

Previous annual conventions have been held across the nation in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Nashville to name a few.

Who: The successful Minneapolis bid was pitched by Meet Minneapolis Senior National Account Representative, Lorri Bell. Minneapolis was chosen over bids submitted by Chicago, Orlando, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.

The NSCAA Annual Convention is the largest soccer trade show in the United States. The association's annual convention is attended by coaches, exhibitors and guests and serves as a global benchmark in soccer coaching education events.

Founded in 1941, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America has grown to become the largest single-sport coaching organization in the United States. The 20,000 members of the NSCAA are committed to providing quality educational programs while enjoying responsive membership services and recognition to coaches and players at all levels.
