MINNEAPOLIS—Hennepin Theatre Trust today announced the return of Kids’ Night on Broadway for the April 1-3 performances of Disney’s High School Musical, the touring stage version of the 2003 Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel movie, at the State Theatre in Minneapolis April 1-6, 2008. This popular promotion and annual celebration of theatre allows children the opportunity to see a Broadway show for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. It also includes special giveaways geared toward a young audience and provides families a chance to experience the magic of the Hennepin Theatre District on a night specially designed for them. Tickets for Kids’ Night on Broadway are on sale now. Visit HennepinTheatreDistrict.org for more information.
Kids’ Night on Broadway is presented and developed locally by Hennepin Theatre Trust and was originally introduced in New York by the Broadway League (formerly the League of American Theatres and Producers). Since its inception, Kids’ Night on Broadway has been adopted by many of the nation’s leading presenters as a way to build new audiences in their own communities. Disney’s High School Musical is geared toward family audiences and tells the empowering story of two teenagers–Troy Bolton, the popular captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez, the highly intelligent transfer student–who navigate the tricky currents of peer pressure to follow their dream and land the leads in the school musical. Disney’s High School Musical is presented by Hennepin Theatre Trust as a special addition to its 2007–08 M&I Bank Broadway Across America-Minneapolis season.
