James Beard Award Winner in Minneapolis

Tim McKee, chef and owner of La Belle Vie (along with Solera, Barrio, Smalley’s Caribbean Cuisine and the forthcoming Sea Change seafood restaurant inside the Guthrie Theater), has taken home the 2009 James Beard Award for Best Chef Midwest. Equivalent to the Oscars of Food, the award definitely means McKee is doing something right.

Stream our video to go behind the scenes in Tim’s kitchen at La Belle Vie and discover his inspirations and his love for Minneapolis. It'll give you better insight into how the city's food scene is heating up.

Other Minneapolis nominees and semi-finalists include: Sameh Wadi of Saffron, Stuart Woodman of Heidi’s Minneapolis, Isaac Becker of 112 Eatery and Alex Roberts of Restaurant Alma.
