CITY OF MINNEAPOLIS AND TARGET CENTER
GARTH BROOKS AND TRISHA YEARWOOD
FOR A RECORD-SETTING RUN OF SHOWS
Minneapolis, MN (November 6, 2014) – Almost 16 years to the day since his last visit to Minneapolis, Garth Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, return to Target Center starting tonight to perform 11 exciting shows over the span of 10 days and selling over 200,000 tickets – a North American record for the most Garth Brooks tickets sold in a single city!
In addition to tonight’s opening concert, Mayor Betsy Hodges has proclaimed today “GARTH BROOKS AND TRISHA YEARWOOD DAY” in the City of Minneapolis.
"I am honored and grateful to welcome country music titans Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks to Minneapolis," said Mayor Hodges. "I truly value their commitment to our city and Target Center. Their recent success highlights the vibrancy of our community and our love for country music. Garth and Trisha - welcome to the ‘Nashville of the North’!"
Target Center has hosted over 4,800 events and 34 million guests in its 24+ year history, but no artist has captivated the Twin Cities market more than Garth Brooks. When his November 2015 run is complete, Target Center will have hosted 23 Garth Brooks concerts (3 in 1994, 9 in 1998 and 11 in 2014) totaling over 430,000 tickets sold.
“We cannot express our gratitude enough for what Garth Brooks has meant to this arena,” stated Target Center Vice President and General Manager, Steve Mattson. “Target Center has been lucky enough to host over 50 members of the Country Music Hall of Fame and/or Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, including Garth. No other individual artist has performed even half the number of shows or sold half the number of tickets that Garth has sold in this arena. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to Garth and Trisha!”
Fans should check AXS.com/Garth daily to see if any additional tickets are released to the public on the day of a show!
