Aussom Aussie wins top prize as The Great Midwest Rib Fest wraps up second successful year at Mystic Lake

More than 30,000 people attended

Prior Lake, Minn. Aussom Aussie of Michigan took home the prize for best ribs last weekend, as more than 30,000 people enjoyed BBQ ribs, art, and free live music at The Great Midwest Rib Fest.

Ten of the nations best rib cookers served more than 22,000 pound of ribs over the three-day festival, in its second year at Mystic Lake. The cookers competed for $15,000 in prizes for the top five Best Ribs, Best Sauce, and fan-favorite Best of the Fest (as voted by festival attendants throughout the weekend).

This years winners were:

First place: Aussom Aussie Midland, Michigan

Second place: Porky Chicks BBQ Fayetteville, Arkansas

Third place: Chicago BBQ Company Burr Ridge, Illinois

Fourth place: MOJOs BBQ Richfield, Ohio

Fifth place: Croix Valley BBQ River Falls, Wisconsin

Best Sauce: Croix Valley BBQ River Falls, Wisconsin

Best of the Fest: Texas Outlaw BBQ Elizabethtown, Kentucky

The Great Midwest Rib Fest was Mystic Lakes second large outdoor festival during Hot Summer Fun a calendar of outdoor and indoor events, promotions, and millions of dollars in cash and giveaways between Memorial Day and Labor Day, 2015. The summer will culminate on Labor Day with an RV giveaway, powered by Noble RV of Minneapolis, valued at more than $100,000.
