Father's Day Weekend

Pat nominated her husband Bob to win a Father’s Day Weekend in Minneapolis—courtesy of Meet Minneapolis. Although they raised two children in Fort Dodge, IA, their tots are now all grown up and living in California. Pat says that most of their Mother’s and Father’s Days are spent “alone wishing we had something to do or someplace to go.” Meet Minneapolis thought Bob and Pat were the perfect couple to treat to a special weekend in Minneapolis. Check out the details of their trip—some in their own words—and use it as inspiration for planning you own weekend getaway to Minneapolis.

Where to Stay
“The staff at the Marriott City Center made us feel special,” Pat said. Because they stayed in the heart of Downtown Minneapolis, the couple was connected to shopping, dining and entertainment through a world-famous skyway system, sleeping mere steps from anywhere they wanted to be.

What to Do
The couple “always wanted to go to a dinner theater in Minneapolis” and finally got their chance. Bob and Pat enjoyed a meal and took in a play at The Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, the nation’s largest professional dinner theater. The couple checked out the Mall of America, and were dazzled by the aquatic wildlife—“we liked the stingrays”—at Underwater Adventures. After hopping on a segway for the first time during their Magical Mystery Tour of the Mississippi Riverfront, the couple gave their official “thumbs up” to Minneapolis (even though Pat’s segway may have done a few Ueys along the way).

Where to Eat
For lunch, Bob and Pat both munched on the “excellent” Day Boat Fresh Fish Sandwich at Spill the Wine. They went ritzy for dinner and sampled the luxurious offerings at The Capital Grille. “The staff did a wonderful job of pampering me,” Pat said.
