New Chef Christopher Gerster at Red Stag Supperclub

New Chef Christopher Gerster, a natural addition to Red Stag Supperclub

 

Christopher Gerster studied at the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont, then began his career at the notable Restaurant Alma under Alex Roberts, and then at Cafe Levain under Stewart Woodman.

As chefs in the Midwest often do, he ventured east working Connecticut’s finest French brasserie-the Union League Cafe for 3 years, then New York City’s upper-east-side fine dining establishment The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges.  It was the call of Graze, (which, by the way was from a Craig’s List Ad) in Madison Wisconsin that brought him back to America’s Heartland and began to distinguish him as a Farm to Table guy. His love for working with local producers began to grow, and with his newly found fame as a Wisconsin CheeseHead he was the natural candidate for Minneapolis’s Finest Supper Club; embracing the philosophy of creating relationships and working closely with Minnesota's farmers then cooking just darn good food that would make his mom proud. A Minnesota native, he’s thrilled to be back and a part in the Twin Cities vibrant food scene.

Weekly Specials at Red Stag

Slow Food Sundays 5pm-10pm

A new special every Sunday night from 5-10pm for $19. Various entrees include Coq au vin, Slow Braised Short Ribs, Pot Roast, Hot Dish, Smothered Chicken, and Cassoulet.

Cheap Date Night

2 entrees (vegan/vegetarian option available), 1 bottle of wine, and dessert for $32. Tuesdays, 5pm-10pm.

Friday Night Fish Fry

Menu changes weekly, available Fridays 5-10:30pm.  (Fried Fish Baskets, Calamari, Prawns, Smelt Fries, Mussels).

Happy Hours

Monday - Friday 3-6pm, Monday - Thursday 10pm-close, and Sunday 3pm-close. Featuring $3 select wines and domestic taps, and $4 select taps and cocktails.
