Minneapolis Convention Center Receives 2012 Best Streetscape Greening Award
(MINNEAPOLIS) — May 10, 2013 — The Minneapolis Convention Center was honored with the 2012 Best Streetscape Greening award at the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District’s (DID) third annual Greening Award Ceremony on May 6. The program honored 20 winners at the event.
The Greening Award recognizes civic associations, businesses, municipalities and community groups who have created and maintained public green spaces that help to enhance the public realm in Downtown Minneapolis.
This award honors the Minneapolis Convention Center grounds employees Jeffrey Drew, Sergio Garcia, Andrew Lloyd and James Smerz, who made winning this award possible through their dedicated work efforts. Executive Director Jeff Johnson, Director of Facility Services Chris Larson and Facilities Operations Manager Lane Carlson, were present at the ceremony to receive the award.
“We want to truly be the City by Nature at the convention center,” said Johnson. “This award shows our commitment to providing a greener Minneapolis experience that shows off our beautiful city to the thousands of convention attendees and visitors who come here each year.”
The Minneapolis Convention Center grounds house 10 separate gardens with a total of 4,246 plants throughout its property.
