MINNEAPOLIS—The SpotLight Showcase, the eighth annual event celebrating Minnesota’s best high school theatre talent as part of Hennepin Theatre Trust’s SpotLight Musical Theatre Program, will be held at the Orpheum Theatre at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013. Tickets, available for only $15, go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013. This professionally produced show highlights the state’s finest musical theatre programs and the students who participate in them by featuring dynamic performances and honors young artists from among 56 participating schools. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit HennepinTheatreTrust.org or call 1.800.982.2787. Exclusive red carpet packages, including programming and gift offers, are also available online.

Highlights this year will include a medley from the Trust’s 2013/14 Broadway Season. “It is a great privilege to support the SpotLight Musical Theatre Program, which not only enriches young people’s lives with a meaningful arts experience but also provides a unique opportunity for students to perform on stage at the historic Orpheum Theatre,” says Dan Cramer, Chair of the Hennepin Theatre Trust Board of Directors and Co-Founder of Grassroots Solutions. A comprehensive list of participating schools is included at the end of this press release.

As the Trust’s flagship educational initiative, the SpotLight Musical Theatre Program honors, supports and advocates for Minnesota high school musical theatre students and programs. SpotLight is the only program of its kind in the state and includes the opportunity to work with theatre educators and musical theatre professionals including Broadway cast members who provide training and insight through critical feedback and hands on workshops. This year, 56 schools, including nine from greater Minnesota, are presenting musicals made possible by the collaboration of almost 5,000 students and annually seen by an estimated 105,000 audience members.
