Minneapolis, MN -- The Brave New Workshop Comedy Theatre (BNW) is excited to announce that it will host its first ever bike-themed special event for theatre goers, the BNW Bike Rally, prior to its main stage performance on May 23. The BNW Bike Rally will take place at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 23 at the BNW's main location at 824 Hennepin Avenue, Downtown Minneapolis. The event is intended to celebrate the strong bike culture in the Twin Cities, as well as emphasize the BNW's commitment to alternative transportation and green living. A second bike rally event is also planned for June 27.
The BNW Bike Rally will feature a pre-show party, starting at 6:30 pm, with bike-themed games, prizes and information provided by Nice Ride MN and the Commuter Connection. The theatre will offer secure bike parking for those who bike to the theatre, and vintage cycle racing footage will play on the big screen in the ETC event space. The event will continue inside the theatre at 7:30 pm with a performance of the BNW's show, "Lance Armstrong's Steroid-Pumped Comedy Revue: A Cheater's Guide to Winning."
"We're always looking for ways to encourage people to use alternative transportation to come to the theatre," said Managing Director Erin Farmer. "And given the theme of this show, people's increased comfort with biking downtown, and the return of beautiful weather, this event came together pretty naturally. Plus, it just sounded fun to us!"
This will be the first of two bike rallies planned for this summer, the second scheduled for June 27, 2013. More info will be available for that event in the coming weeks.
