Mall of America® Director of Tourism receives significant

travel and tourism award

 

 

Bloomington, Minn., (Feb. 15, 2013) – Mall of America® Director of Tourism, Douglas Killian, was awarded the “Friend of Tourism” award by John Edman, Minnesota Office of Tourism Director of Tourism, on Wednesday, February 13. On behalf of Explore Minnesota Tourism, Killian was presented this prestigious award for his contributions to the Minnesota travel and tourism industry.

 

“Each year there are more than 42 million visitors to Mall of America. Tourists from all over the world come to Mall of America putting Minnesota on the map as a travel destination,” said Maureen Bausch, Mall of America Executive Vice President. “We’re proud that Doug Killian has helped us achieve this recognition and was recognized with this prestigious award.”

 

Killian is responsible for directing U.S. and international tourism programs for Mall of America, the nation’s largest retail and entertainment complex. Tourism accounts for four out of every ten visits to the Mall and generates nearly $2 billion each year in economic impact for the state of Minnesota.

 

Explore Minnesota Tourism, Minnesota’s state tourism office, pursues an entrepreneurial approach, leveraging the state’s tourism investment with increased involvement by the private sector. A council of representatives from the state’s tourism industry strongly connects Explore Minnesota Tourism with tourism businesses and organizations.
