Creative City Challenge FAQ If you have questions about the Creative City Challenge, which are not answered in this FAQ, come to our informational meeting at the Convention Center 5 pm on Wednesday, November 14 or attend our online session at 8:30 am, Thursday, November 15 or email conventioncenterplaza@northern.lights.mn with your questions.
Q: I have read 2 different dates for this session – Nov. 12th at Noon and Nov. 14th at 5pm. Can you please confirm the final date, time and agenda for this meeting? Is it mandatory? A: The information session is Wednesday November 14 at 5 pm. It is not mandatory. The agenda is that Gulgun Kayim, Director of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy for the City of Minneapolis will go over the goals of the project and answer any specific questions about the Creative City Competition. Similar information will be provided via an online session at 8:30 am, CST, Thursday November 15. For details of Convention Center room number and online access email conventioncenterplaza@northern.lights.mn.
Q: Where are there electricity and water connections in the Convention Center Plaza? A: See the map below (green is electrical service, blue water). Note that this does not guarantee that all electricity and water needs can be met, which will be a matter for discussion with the finalists.
Q: I am from Toronto and my collaborator is from Sweden. Are we eligible to attend competition or is it for Minnesota residents? A: At least one core member of a team must be a Minnesota resident.
Q: Must we choose between either using 3 still images or a 60 second video for our submission, or can there be a 60 second video in addition to an illustration in .jpg format? A: At the moment, you should plan on one or the other. This may change when we announce the final submission process by November 16. Don't forget to register for the competition at http://www.minneapolis.org/art-in-the-plaza/registration.
